Divinity 2 Unlock Inventory

I'm all done on Reapers Coast and ready to sail, but I can't find a way to sail to the next area without Gareth. He's digging away at his parents graves.
I've killed Jonathan, I have his ring and his gloves in my inventory, no trigger for dialogue with Gareth.
I snuck into his parents house by throwing a Pyramid over the back wall and killed the Silent Ones there (log updated accordingly), still no trigger for dialogue with Gareth.
Two Paladin's on the door I don't seem to have enough stats to persuade to formally let me in. Even taking wits potions all my attempts are failing (even tried some of the lower stat combinations on other characters with no joy).
Anyone got any thoughts on this? I was going to bump up my persuade a few points on my next level but I've pretty much run out of things to do on the island for XP.

Divinity 2 Unlocking Inventory

I started to play EE just in hope they improve Tenebrium weapon conception, and what a dissapointment. You cant craft it, cant chant it, cant improve. Why? This is suppose to be an end game weapon. But it still a trash as it was in vanila. And skill should add +10% dmg and not just to unlock. Well there is tons of stuff i was hoping for, but w/e game become even worse imo. Nerfing of all the good perks to the point that i have nothing to pick. My mage lvl 16 have 3 talents i have nothing to spend on. Stupid stat cap and w/e it doesnt improve a sh1t. 20 int - 4 turns on spells srsly? Why? No improving in crafting except adding a stupid wand. Wand would be worth if you can use wand spell permanently, like you have a book. Instead 3 charges. Who use this crap? NPCs are still selling trash, drop is still a trash. 2/3 of the game you use items that you found in the start.. but inventory management is a huge pain in the game where item management is nonexistence i loled. Oh well i should stop with the whining. Hope DOS2 will be better.
